A Session Boarder Control (SBC) allows for peering between IP networks allowing customer traffic to pass through many different parts of a network in order to connect to its final destination. SBCs help at the network border connections (where one network “meets†another) to manage the sessions for security and quality control, translate protocols (SIP, MGCP, SCCP, IAX) and provide seamless service connections.
